19 May Message from the Head of School, May 20th, 2021
Dear Families of The Covenant School,
In this my final message in the Knightly News, I want to first thank all the members of the Covenant community for your support and encouragement throughout this long and sometimes arduous school year.
Thank you, parents, for your unwavering trust in us as we have sought to make right decisions with regard to the pandemic while at the same time create memorable learning experiences for your children. You’ve been beyond patient in not being able to come into the building much this year. I know that’s been frustrating. It has been just wonderful to see so many parents at our chapels this week – so much hustle and bustle in our building, adding to the laughter and life already here.
I also want to thank our dynamic faculty for the steadfast and faithful work you’ve done this year and for the commitment and love you’ve shown to each and every one of your students. You have embraced challenges and setbacks with professional gusto.
Even as we wrap up this school year, we are already deep into our work to make the 2021-2022 school year truly remarkable. We anticipate a return to a more typical school experience in the fall. Of course, we cannot guarantee exact scenarios, and no one truly knows what the fall will be like with regard to the virus. However, we will plan for more normal circumstances in school next year and we will adjust if we need to or are required to do so. We hope that masking, distancing, and other such measures will not be necessary when we begin our new school year in the fall.
During all of our upcoming TCS summer camps, masks will be optional for everyone.
I continue to feel both humbled and privileged to be a part of this school community, where God is so clearly at work and children are spending their growing-up years learning important truths. We plan with the future in mind, of course, but we also don’t forget to be solidly present in the here and now, with children, with each other. We have been richly blessed, indeed.
I can’t wait to share another rich year with you!
