Matching Gifts

Your employer may have a matching gift program for contributions to The Covenant School. Contact your Human Resources department to see if your contribution to Covenant qualifies for a matching gift. To initiate a corporate gift, the donor must obtain a matching gift form from their employer, complete it, and send to Covenant with their own gift. The Covenant School will certify receipt of the gift and submit the form to the donor’s employer.

Gifts of Securities

Donors may choose to use appreciated stock to make a gift. A gift of appreciated stock allows donors to avoid the tax burden of capital gains and gives them a tax deduction for the fully appreciated amount. For information about the stock process, please email Christy Johnson, Director of Marketing, or phone (615) 467-2313.

Gifts in Kind

Gifts of goods and services can be donated to The Covenant School and are tax deductible as provided by law. For more information about gifts in kind, please email Christy Johnson, Director of Marketing, or phone (615) 467-2313.

Honorary Gifts

Donors may make gifts in honor of a person who has played a special role in their lives or the lives of their children. The honoree will be notified by the school that a gift has been received in his or her name and will be given the name and address of the donor.

Memorial Gifts

Memorial gifts may be made to honor the memory of a deceased individual associated with The Covenant School community. These gifts perpetuate their individual’s known interest in Covenant and are acknowledged accordingly.

Planned Gifts

Planned gifts take many forms. The simplest one, a bequest, designates The Covenant School as a beneficiary in your will. You may specify a particular amount or percentage of your estate be given to Covenant. If you have included Covenant School in your estate plans, please email Christy Johnson, Director of Marketing, or phone (615) 467-2313.

Why doesn't Covenant charge enough in tuition to cover operating costs?

By keeping tuition as low as possible, we remain more accessible to as many families as possible. Every family benefits from keeping tuition as affordable as possible.

Is giving to the Annual Fund unique to Covenant School?

No. Independent schools have long relied upon the loyalty and generosity of their constituents. Very few independent schools meet full operational costs with tuition alone.

Who should give to the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is the first and most important philanthropic gift asked of every trustee, faculty, staff, parent, grandparent, alumni and friend of Covenant School. Your gift to the Annual Fund is a visible demonstration of your belief in the mission of the school.

Why is participation so important?

Strong participation demonstrates the commitment and dedication of our community and helps us in acquiring gifts from foundation grants. High participation from all the school’s constituent groups is also a measure of excellence used by SACS/SAIS for accreditation criteria. This is why we need and appreciate gifts of every size.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes. The Covenant School is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax deductible organization.
