Student Council
The Student Council is made up of elected Officers from the fifth and sixth grades as well as Representatives from grades 4-6. Meeting monthly during the school year, the Council helps share student's ideas and interests with faculty and the Head of School. Student Council members plan and organize school spirit activities as well as raise funds and collect contributions for charitable organizations in the Nashville area.
$100 for Haiti
The Student Council declared the 100th day of school as $100 for Haiti! In response to the earthquake devastation in Haiti, each classroom collected money to be donated to Visitation Hospital Foundation. Visitation Hospital is a healthcare facility in a small rural village of Haiti, where physicians can come from across the United States to practice their specialty and minster to the people of Haiti. Students were encouraged to earn their own money to contribute. While their goal was to raise $100 by February 3rd, the 100th day of school, the students actually raised $1,265! In addition, the PE department is supplementing the Student Council "$100 for Haiti" project with a Run for Haiti program.
Books for Change
In conjunction with the fall Book Fair, the Student Council collected spare change and raised $374. The money was used to purchase over sixty new books for a fourth grade classroom at Glencliff Elementary School. Each Glencliff fourth grader received a personal gift wrapped book and over thirty additional books were contributed for the classroom.
Clothing Drive
The Student Council hosts a spring Clothing Drive to benefit thriftSMART, which supports such ministries as New Hope Academy, African Leadership, Mercy Children's Clinic and The Belize Project.
