A dress code contributes to an optimal learning environment by reducing classroom distractions and by eliminating student concerns about clothing choices. The dress code policy supports our school mission; by following the dress code guidelines, students demonstrate their love of God through their obedience, their respect for the school community, their self-respect, their cooperation, and their sense of fairness. Students who follow the dress code should remember that obeying the rules is the right choice, even though others may sometimes violate the code. Teachers may track the days when all students in class are in dress code and provide incentives for the class to encourage compliance.

 When a student's attire includes a dress code violation, the parents will be notified through a Dress Code Reminder form sent home with the student. The student may be asked to remove some items, and some violations may require that parents bring appropriate clothing to the school so the student may change clothes. Consequences for repeated dress code violations may include a meeting of the students' parents with the Head of School. Parents may help their children avoid violations by making sure that appropriate clothing is clean and available and by checking their children's appearance closely before leaving home. We appreciate your cooperation and support!

• All clothing should be appropriately sized, clean, and in good repair.

• Dress uniform items marked with an asterisk* must be purchased at Parker School Uniform Store. Other clothing items should be in the style of the Parker Uniform items if purchased from another retailer.

• Khaki must be the darker, traditional khaki shade (like khaki items sold at Parker School Uniform Store).

• All students should purchase one red polo shirt for field trips and Spirit days (in addition to regular wear).

• Jumpers and skirts should be hemmed between 1 to 4 inches above knee.

• Plain white camisoles or undershirts with no visible lettering may be worn under uniform shirts.  Sleeves and tails of these items must not show.

• Accessories should not cause a distraction for students or teachers--bandanas, head-scarves, hats, large bows/flowers are not permitted.    (Note:  Parker Uniform Store sells hair accessories in our school plaid.)

• Jewelry is limited to watches, short length gold/silver necklaces, and small hoop/stud earrings (no long dangling earrings, large hoops, feathers, etc.). No rings or bracelets.

• Socks (or footed tights) are required every day.

• Girls may wear lip gloss. No other makeup is permitted.

• Boys' hair should be cut so that hair does not cover the eyebrows, the ears, or touch the shirt collar.

Grades  K-3:  Required Dress Uniform (worn on Thursdays)

• Plaid Jumper*

• White Peter-Pan collar blouse* - long or short sleeve

• (Optional) Black crew-neck cardigan sweater* with school emblem* attached on the left

• Plain white socks or footed tights

• Modesty shorts under jumper (not showing)

• Shoes from the "Dress Uniform Shoe" List

Grades 4-6:  Required Dress Uniform (worn on Thursdays)

• Plaid Stitch Down Pleat Skirt*

• White ¾ Sleeve Overblouse*

• Black sweater vest* with school emblem* attached on the left (Vest  is worn Fall Break-Spring Break.)
  

• Plain white socks

• Modesty shorts under skirt (not showing)

• Shoes from the "Dress Uniform Shoe" List

Additional Options for Girls:  Girls may wear only items from this list.

• Black polo shirt - same specifications as above (Grades 5-6 only)

• White tights, white leggings, black tights, or black leggings (must be tight, ankle-length or footed) may be worn under skirt, skort, culottes, or jumper

• Plain white socks (ruffles, trim are allowed for grades K-1)

• Khaki pants or shorts (plain or pleated front, traditional style, no multi-pocket or jean style) with brown leather belt (belt not required for K-1)

• White Oxford cloth button-down shirt -- short or long sleeved (Grades 1-4 must tuck shirts)
  

• White polo shirt -- short or long sleeved (Kindergarten only option)

Black pullover sweater vest* with school emblem* on the left (required for Grades 1-4, vest worn Fall Break--Spring Break)

Grades 5-6:  Required Dress Uniform (worn on Thursdays)

• Khaki pants (plain or pleated front, traditional style, no multi-pocket or jean style) with brown leather belt

• White Oxford cloth button-down shirt -- long sleeved, tucked

• Covenant tie (available at The Covenant School Booster Store)

• Single-breasted navy blazer with school emblem on left pocket

• Navy, brown, or black dress socks

• Shoes from the "Dress Uniform Shoe" List

Additional Options for Boys:  Boys may wear only items from this list.

• Khaki pants or shorts (plain or pleated front, traditional style, no multi-pocket or jean style) with brown leather belt (no belt required for K-1)

• Land's End Khaki Boys' Stain/Wrinkle Resistant Cargo Shorts (Item #23154-0BP9) are permitted on non-dress days (no other cargo short is permitted)
  

• Land's End Classic Climber shorts or pants (Item # 22565-8AJ7 or # 17834-3AJ3) are permitted on non-dress days (Grades K-1 only)

• Red or White polo shirts - short or long sleeves, tucked in (mesh knit with no contrast trim, logo, or emblem); purchase one red polo for field trips and Spirit days.

• Black polo shirts - same specifications as above (Grades 5-6 only)

Girls' Dress Uniform Shoes:

Athletic Shoe Option for Girls and Boys:  No "fashion" shoes such as Converse or shoes with lights, wheels, glitter, sounds, neon or embellishments.

• Traditional white or gray low-top athletic shoes with white or gray laces (Limited single accent color in white, black, blue, red, or pink)
  

• Students may wear any sweaters or coats outside.  

• Inside the building, students may wear only sweaters from the uniform list or jackets and sweatshirts from The Covenant School Booster store.

• Students may not wear any outerwear including Covenant sweatshirts or jackets to Thursday chapel.

Students must wear the required PE clothes below to participate in PE. Students without the proper clothes may participate in their uniforms, but no other t-shirts/shorts will be permitted.

• Students are required to wear a white or red Covenant School t-shirt with red or black athletic shorts.

• Shorts for girls should be modest (no short-shorts).

• Dress code athletic shoes are required.

• Gym clothes should be brought to school in a small gym bag.

• Covenant School t-shirts, gym shorts, and a gym bag may be purchased from The Covenant School Booster store.

*An asterisk indicates items that must be purchased from Parker School Uniform Store (204 Ward Circle in Maryland Farms, Brentwood). JK students do not have the dress uniform required for grades K-6, but wear options from the list below every school day. JK students are not required to wear belts. JK girls do not wear the plaid jumper, skirt, or culottes.

Junior Kindergarten Girls:

• Red Land's End School Uniform Mesh Polo Dress (Item # 39366-75XX or 39367-45XX); modesty shorts/bloomers should be worn under the dress
